Rock Players Selected To U18 Canada East Positional Camp

Monday, May 18, 2026

Three standout players from NL Rugby’s provincial Rock program have earned selection to participate in the 2026 U18 Canada East Positional Camp! The camp will welcome players and coaches from across the region for three full days of positional focused skills from Saturday, May 16th to Monday, May 18th at Acadia University, New Brunswick.  The selected trio was nominated from the Rock Women’s Rugby Provincial Program, and all three Amy Costello, Hailey Smith and Ireland Murphy, are eager to build upon their existing skill sets.

Amy Costello who was also recently selected to play for St. Fx in Nova Scotia next semester commented, “I’m very excited to learn and improve skills that I can use to benefit me in the upcoming seasons, and to make new connections in the rugby Community.”

Hailey Smith is also looking forward to her time at the camp stating, “I’m expecting the camp to be fast paced, competitive and focusing on skills. I’m excited to see what I can learn from this experience of being selected.”

And Ireland Murphy agrees, stating, “I’m grateful for the invitation to the camp and the opportunity to compete against some great players! I’m excited to learn as much as I can from the coaches and to improve my skills.”

Head Coach, Roxanne Butler, is happy the athletes can avail of this opportunity and stated, “Back here on the Rock, we couldn’t be more excited for three of our top athletes to take on this opportunity, and we can’t wait to see them bring their new skills back to the team!”
