Two Under 17 teams from Newfoundland and Labrador depart today for Surrey, British Columbia, to complete the first part of their YMCA Youth Cultural Exchange. Two teams from British Columbia will then travel to Newfoundland and Labrador from May 5th through 10th as the second part of the YMCA Youth Cultural Exchange. The organization and preparation for this exchange have been ongoing for months, and two squads totaling 64-people will travel coast to coast.
Additionally, as both groups are Rugby teams, games have been arranged to be played in each province.
“The games will be important to us” said Coach Roxanne Butler, “but more important is the experience for our young athletes to live in a different environment and observe a different culture.”
The Newfoundland and Labrador Rugby Union is pleased to announce those travelling as a part of this exchange and wish all participants good luck in their games and hope that they have an enjoyable experience.
