The Rock Senior Women’s team departed to “Rock the Maritimes” this morning! This is the first tour for this team that was rejuvenated earlier this year. They are travelling to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island to play exhibition games as part of their training.
They will play the Dartmouth PigDogs RFC this evening with a kickoff at 6 pm in Dartmouth, then travel onwards to Charlottetown, PEI, where they will train Friday and then face PEI on Saturday at noon.
Head coach Robert Nugent has the following to say about this tour “We are excited about getting this mini tour under our belts. Our program has been training hard since the winter and will use these matches to set our benchmark for 2023 as we intend on entering the Atlantic senior women’s championship next year. I’m very proud of our team. There’s been a big show of dedication from many of our team members indicating a want to get back to senior provincial competition and represent our women in that division. These ladies will hopefully inspire the young women behind them to continue into their adult lives, enjoying this game and further putting Rock women’s rugby back on the map. In my opinion, this is the first logical step towards that.”
We wish the Rock Senior Women’s team the best of luck on this tour! Let’s get it Rock!!
